Statement of Intent
How do you intend to use the four areas of the media theoretical framework to communicate meaning and meet the requirements of your chosen brief? (approx. 400 words)
To create an exclusive and deluxe brand identity across both of my front covers, contents pages and website, I aim to construct a media product that encapsulates a regal elegance, successfully targeting an up-market audience of style conscious people who conform to one of the highest economic bands of society, furthermore, who are within the 16–25-year-old demographic. Across my four media texts, including the two contents pages, I aim to include the same serif font to promote the uniform conventions of the brand. Additionally, I must conform to Conde Nast’s unique principles to ensure the archive is recognised to be a part of brands such as vogue, the New Yorker and vanity fair. Within my texts, I will ensure readers are adequality informed of the latest fashion matters by using innovative sentence structures to lure readers attentions. To reflect these ideas, I aim to use an autumnal palette of burgundy, green and beige in my first issue which will be released in the autumn of 2026. These colours can be seen in many products, even clothing, making it an elegant and timeless shade. In the second issue, I strive to include two main conventions. Firstly, in contrary to my first issue I aim to incorporate a men’s style cover, further targeting a wider demographic of a different social group. Recently in many fashion magazines such as Vogue, throwback looks have been highly enjoyed by readers, therefore one of the sub headlines will incorporate a thrifting theme. This will be appreciated by fashion enthusiasts, particularly a younger audience who are passionate for environmental issues. Between my two covers, I aim to include two different models from contrasting social groups. In my opinion, it is extremely important to include a range of individuals in today’s media society, as audiences can build their personal identity. This makes it easier to find themselves reflected in the media, therefore relating to and building a positive relationship with the company.
How do you intend to link your media products to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding ofthe digitally convergent nature of your media production? (approx. 100 words)
I aim to create a seamless brand image across both of my products so that they are representative of aligning products, allowing the audience to make a clear connection between the two. This is important as the audience will recognise both the magazine and website are representative of the same product. I will use the same masthead and font, the only difference being the colour palette, which will be sleek and minimalistic on the website due the range of different colours presented on the front covers. I also to create a digitally convergent website by including exclusive content such as the exclusive digital magazine to drive views and sales, this shares the success of both the print and online products effectively.
